sweet pages

Tim Richardson is the author of a history of confectionery entitled Sweets: History of a Temptation,(in America the title has been appropriately dumbed down to Sweets: A History of Candy) The British Library has a short interview and an illustrated selection of his favorite books from the history of sweets.

I just started reading Richardson's book (dumbed-down title edition) and am finding it very interesting, although as an American reader, a little difficult, as all the candy names are either different or nonexistent here. I did track down some Turkish Delight for our family after his nostalgic descriptions and that was a hit. We like the kind with the pistachio nuts in it.

The illustrations look great on your blog. Thanks for the link.
